McGunn Easy 120 - Front PanelFront Panel AssemblyThe keypad membrane, LCD display module, two LEDs and two key switches are mounted on the front panel assembly. The panel itself is mounted to the door with screws through the front door. To remove the assembly, the door must be open and the Vend Assembly must be removed (see procedure below). All wires from the front panel must be disconnected before attempting to remove the display module otherwise accidental wire damage is very likely.KeypadTo replace the keypad, the door must be open and the vend assembly must be removed. The keypad membrane is attached with adhesive to the surface of the front panel. A thin ribbon cable connects the keypad to the main board (J5).1. Remove the vend assembly (see below). 2. Disconnect the keypad ribbon cable at the main board (J5). The connector at the main board slides off. 3. Peel off the defective membrane and gently pull the ribbon cable out. 4. Fish the ribbon cable of the new membrane through the opening. 5. Remove the backing and stick the membrane to the panel. 6. Connect the ribbon cable to J5 on the main board. 7. Verify keypad operation. 8. Replace the vend assembly. LCD ModuleThe LCD module is mounted inside the front panel. It receives 5 VDC directly and a ribbon cable connects the display to the main board (J23). Verify power before replacing the display module.1. Open the safe door. 2. Remove power from the safe. 3. Remove the vend assembly (see below). 4. Remove the front panel from the safe (see below). 5. Replace the LCD display. 6. Reverse the above steps to restore the safe. 7. ALWAYS Test display and lock operations before closing the safe door. VEND and MGR KeyswitchesIf the VEND keyswitch or its wires fail, the keypad will not respond to any attempts to vend even though the display will work and the door will still operate. The VEND and DOOR key switches are slotted to ensure proper orientation and they are held on with hex nuts. The J27 wire harness includes a pair of orange wires and a pair of white wires. Each wire is terminated with spade connectors. Connect the orange wires to the MGR keyswitch (closest to the side wall). Connect the white wires to the VEND key switch.1. Open the safe door. 2. Remove power from the safe. 3. Remove the vend assembly (see below). 4. Remove the front panel from the safe (see below). 5. Repair or replace keyswitches as required. 6. Reverse the above steps to restore the safe. 7. ALWAYS Test display and lock operations before closing the safe door. LEDsThe LEDs are held to the panel with pressure fit lenses. To remove, gently pull from the interior side of the panel. To replace, slide the new LED into the lens fitting until the tip is flush with the membrane. The DOOR LED is a one-color LED with two wires. The READY/WAIT LED is a two-color LED with three wires.1. Open the safe door. 2. Remove power from the safe. 3. Remove the vend assembly (see below). 4. Remove the front panel from the safe (see below). 5. Repair or replace LEDs as required. 6. Reverse the above steps to restore the safe. 7. ALWAYS Test display and lock operations before closing the safe door. Remove Vend Assembly to Access ElectronicsThe Vend Assembly must be removed in order to access components inside the front panel.1. Pull off all ten of the vend knobs from the front. 2. Remove the Vend Drop Sensor Boards. To remove the boards use a phillips screw driver and remove the two mounting screws from each board. 3. Using a 7/16” hex nut driver or wrench remove the six nuts (two on the right, four on the left) holding the metal Vend Assembly to the door. Gently slide the entire assembly back and set it out of the way. 4. Reverse these steps to reinstall. Be careful to avoid pinching wires. Click on an image to view larger.
Remove Front PanelThe front panel must be removed in order to repair or replace the display module, LEDs, or MGR or VEND keyswitches.1. Open the safe door. 2. Remove power from the safe. 3. Remove the vend assembly. 4. Disconnect the 5 VDC supply at the Molex connector. 5. Pull the tab on the ribbon cable connector toward you to release the ribbon cable from the connector (J23). 6. Disconnect the keypad ribbon cable at the main board (J5). The connector at the main board slides off. 7. Disconnect the front panel keyswitches from the main board at J27. 8. Disconnect the front panel LEDs from the main board at JP7 and JP8. 9. Remove the mounting screws to remove the front panel from the safe. 10. Repair as needed. 11.
